Default Slovenia Fishing Lodge

These are the people we used for a days guided fly fishing in Slovenia. I can thoroughly recommend them to any one wanting to fish in that fantastic country.

More to the point they have just built and opened a new fishing lodge right on the banks of the Sava Bohinjka where the European championships were held this year. It's worth a drool whether you are going there or not:

Smile Slovenia fishing lodge

I know it well, never fished that area, have fished Lake Bohing, I have always took my car on the North sea ferries and driven there, via A3 germany, A10 Austria and over the Wurzen pass down to Pod Coran and Kranska Gora, I then go over the Virsic pass, 52 hairpins on that bit of road, built by Russian prisoners of WWI,a lot of history in that area, fantastic views of the Julian alps, drop down into the Trenta valley and fish the river Soca, absolutely beautiful river, full of grayling, trout of all species, bit expensive to fish but my Late wife and I stayed with a local farming family at one time and the Soca ran through his land so we got some wonderful free fishing, lovely people,I am still in touch with them, we always carried a small tent and on occasions camped by the river, there's a very small camp site near Most-en-Soca where we used to camp, free fishing in the Soca that ran through the camp site and the boss man would cook our catch for free, that was when we gave him half of our catch!! fair enough! I love the country and would dearly love to return, but I'm a bit past the long drive these days, 827 mile each way, a lonely drive on one's own, I have toyed with the idea of flying from Stansted, you can get a return flight to Llubijana for less than 40 quid at certain times of the year, Easyjet.com then of course one would have to hire a motor and that can be a bit pricey, driving there was our best option because we used to make the journey an holiday and we'd make the trip last 6 to 8 weeks, it's an easy journey, motorway all the way and in July-August the weather is great, Tight lines to you from grayling.

In terms of cost, I agree, the killer is car hire but after that the Country is surprisingly reasonable. As Grayling says...Easijet was about £40 back in early June and will be the same again in September.

Hotel and Breakfast @ £30 a night and the days giuded fishing came in at about £75 each which included collection from the hotel, a nice lunch and fishing until you could no longer see the rod in front of your face!

Daily licences on the Sava were about £20..more than I thought it would be but for a river of that quality, you can't complain. I think, from memory, we fished about five stretches and were'nt even scratching it.

I notice the new Lodge is about 30 odd Euros a night and maybe that includes fishing on the river in front of it....I aim to check that. If it does you wouldn't even need a car..I know they will arrange collection from the airport.

Fact is that Easijet have made it cheaper to go there for a long weekend than the same thing in many places in the UK. I just wish they'd fly out of Birmingham.

The lodge is 45 euro or 30 quid with tax for a single room and that doesn't include fishing, average fishing is 30 to 60 quid a day and that doesn't include rod licence, that can be anything, varies on the water you fish, be careful

>>Bed & breakfast: 29.00 Eur + tourist tax 1.01 Eur

Supplements:
Double room - single use: +15.00 Eur
Staying less than 2 nights: +9.00 Eur<<

In June when I was there last we paid 30 euros a day to fish the Sava, actually less a discount for more than three days..actual cost was under £20 a day.

I have asked about the fishing near the Lodge and also if collection from and delivery to the airport can be arranged.

Just had a thought..Grayling may well be referring to the Trophy Water. As the name implies this is stocked water and does come at a premium rate. The waters we fished were, mainly, in the National park and were unstocked but full of wild browns and Grayling. If you want a look at the sort of water we fished, go here and loook at the last post on the thread from me.

Slovenia?

There are also a couple of other links.
