Default £1500 budget

I'm looking to get away in September next year for a week and have been looking at going to Vancouver island for the above budget.

Renting a camper van and travelling around the island seems to be the most cost effective option

Is there anywhere else in the world you think would be worth a look

Budget as i said £1500 and only for a week

This trip is without the family so only fishing entertainment required.

Cheers

Steve

If you don't mind being closer to home then Woody on the forum normally organizes a trip to Islay in September which I can highly recommend. Great fishing, lovely craic and excellent fellowship!

Take care

Terry

Hi

This Febuary I did Los Roques for just about £2000, and that was with 4 days guided fishing on my own, The guides alone were $1200, However there is quite a bit of DIY fishing, you can also get cheaper local guides on the island.
the accommodation is good, the food is great, 24degs with a light cool breeze, cheap beer, loads of easy to catch bonefish etc.... I think you could do it for £1500

Is this only the fishing budget or is flight in that sum? I say this as I intend to go to BC next year that time and international travel has gone through the roof! I've been tracking on Opodo and last week it was close to £1100 but curiously this week it has dropped £100 to ~£970. If that was the case you'd have very little left over for accommodation, food, guiding etc.

Cheers Folks,

Firstly Terry Thanks for the Islay tip.Would certainly be a lot cheaper than going further afield.I will be looking into that for the future.

Secondly Jason that looks most appealing.I feel a google coming on!

Thirdly Steve it might be worth looking at Canadian affair for flights and for the camper van in September miles better than opodo.

If i don't find anything more suitable i could be seeing you on the same flight.

Cheers

Steve

1500 should get you to cayo coco only flipside is the situation with Thomas Cook. Plenty of DIY and guides at very reasonable prices alternatively try Playa del Carmen in Mexico. I have read some good reports and will be going there in 3 weeks.
