Default Eleuthera Guide

I'm going to Eleuthera in March next year. Can anyone recommend a guide I could contact?

The Guide you want is Paul Petty he is based in Goveners Harbour, and can be connected on www.eleutherabonefish.com
Tel: (242) 332-2963
his rates are Half day: $200 Full day: $350
Full day “up South” in the remote creeks of Rock Sound: $400.

You could also connect Graham at Bonefish Adventure he is based in the uk and takes groups to Eleuthera he is out there end of March.
Eleuther is known as a great DIY desdination, however the fish on most of the well known flats are dead spookyand very difficult to catch due to the high number of flies they see in a year. for further information goto www.reel-time.com/forum/]Reel-Time Forums - The Internet Journal of Saltwater Fishing[/url] heaps of information here many from our friends across the pond. good luck it's a great place.

I'd agree with what Doug said. However, if you just want to go DIY most of the flats are accessible by car. The easy access to the fishing explains why these are some of the spookiest bones you'll ever come across. If you get desperate put your fly in front of the fish and leave it static, either that or a slow figure of eight retrieve. Good luck

Thanks for all of the advice.
I will contact Paul Petty
We will be staying near Governor's Harbour.
I've got the Bahamas Fly Fishing book but it's nearly 20 years old I think.
Sounds like the easily accessible flats are going to be challenging.

Try something different in the way of flies small crab patterns and a Yellow and White Clouser can produce.

Fish Ten Bay and if you have transportation see if you can get all the way down to deep creek. Savanah sound has some of the spookiest going

Paul Petty is the most known guide, however there are others.

I was there DIY a few years ago and we drove "up south" and talked to some locals in one of the towns. They pointed to this really old guy (70s?) and said he's your man.

I actually forget his name but we was so fit we couldn't keep up with him (he guided us on foot).

He showed us some back bays and put us on some huge schools of bones.

I think he charged us $120USD.

Oh and he was blind in one eye!

That's very impressive. I once got this guide in Harbour Island who was useless! That's why I'm looking for recommendations. I guess if the locals recommend that should be good. I'd like to get something arranged before I go in early march.
Thanks for your advice and everyone else's, Langland_Fisher
