Hi,

I have suggested to my wife that we should go away in the spring for a long weekend fly fishing without the kids and to my surprise she was delighted with the idea!

So I need some suggestions about where to go thats within reasonable travel distance of London.

Something not too expensive that is going to have the scenery and weather to make it a decent break from the UK as well as offer good fishing and guiding for novices...

Any ideas - I was thinking of Slovakia in May...?

I've always fancied a trip to Tuscany - I think max italy on this forum is a local guide.

Have a look at this place Domaine de la Salamandre ... not far from Paris but a truly wonderful place for a short break. I suggest this as that is the place I went to with the mrs last year. 20 acre lake, boats with electric engine, flyshop, guidance and casting lessons, bungalows, a restaurant ... and great fishing. Rainbows and Browns and bass (but you'll be too early for them). Vincent, the guy managing it, is a nice guy. Give him a call. And maybe take the Mrs to Paris for a day? We planned that and then canceled it, cuz the fishing was superb. Fish are all decent size and immaculate, including some monsters as well. Just an idea.

Oh yes, and you can get from London directly to Paris by HST train ...
