Managed a day out last week in Miami for Peacock Bass. Got 25 to the boat on a day trip with my friend, shown here with the best of the day. A mixture of surface poppers early in the day, and clousers later on when fishing the beds.

looks like a butterfly peacock - brings back memories. I did a peacock bass trip up the Unini (upper Amazon basin) a few years ago. BRILLIANTtrip and not as expensive as saltwater!

I knew they had been released around Florida - they're growing! Good sport on your doorstep now, even if it was a alien species released by numpties.

Actually, they were released by fwc to control the invasive exotic species that were illegally introduced.

My friend, Martin Arostegui shown in the first photo, has now been made a Trustee of the IGFA, and currently holds over 400 World Records. A great fishing partner, and an exceptional individual.

This fishing is within 30 mins of my condos. We used to have peacocks like this in our lake until the big cold spell of Jan 2010. For now they are restricted to the Miami area, however, they are spreading back.

The numbers of Peacocks caught this week has been great. It is an optimum time of year, with the fish bedding, and being aggressive in shallow water locations. Tie up some Peacock Clousers with differing weight of heads for differing sink rates.
