Large streamer for large grayling. That's how it works in the North of Norway
In August 2011, I had the opportunity to join some friends from Sweden on a float trip on the Finnmarksvidda. This is the most northern area in Norway, close to the city of Alta.
The river seemed to be infested with very large grayling! The guys from Sweden started with some classic nymphs such as pheasant tails and they were immediately catching plenty of grayling in the first pools. However, I was convinced that there had to be larger grayling here. So I choose a large streamer... an imitation of a male stickleback in spawning colors. My first 5 casts gave me 4 grayling that were above the 50 cm mark. I was a happy flyfisher...
I made a small video report about our trip and hope that you will enjoy it.
