Default Fly Fishing New Zealand 2012

Hi all,

I am in the planning of taking a 3 month Vacation over to New Zealand. Just come out of a 4year relationship that I didn't want to. But thats life.

So anyway thought I could do with a bit of fishing therapy and plan a trip to New Zealand at the start of the new year.

I have been twice and trust me, this place should be at the top of anyone's to do list before they die.

I am hoping to not do this by myself as I prefer fishing company to fishing solo. So if anyone is planning to go fishing in NZ around January - February was wondering if they wanted to meet up out there and go for a fish.

As a full time Fly fishing Guide/Instructor I am pretty easy going and always up for meeting new faces.

So if this appeals to you, drop me a line and we'll go fishing.

Cheers
Lewis

Hi All,

Thanks for the great response response I have received from everyone who replied to the post or PM'd me. I appreciate the support and the forum yet again proved that there are some genuinely Great guys that use the Forums. So thank you.

The kind of fishing I will be most fond of doing out in NZ is Hiking up into areas that the fish don't get a lot of pressure as I have done some pretty Challenging walks into the middle of no man's land but the fishing has been every bit worth it.

I love the Idea of working hard to get the most out of something and there's plenty of that to be had.

When I get to NZ I will post as much of my trip as I can on the forum complemented by some nice pictures. So if anyone is interested to see how great a place it is. I will try to update things as regularly as possible.

I have a pretty good plan of how to structure the trip as I have some great contacts over there and have been taken to some hidden treasure of rivers that hold a good head of huge Browns and Rainbows that make our UK fisheries stocked giants look silly.

But catching them can be a different story.

Cheers
Lewis

Not to forget, There is some amazing Saltwater fly fishing to be had as well.

It will be a mixture of, Great River, Lake and Saltwater fly fishing.
Trout, Salmon (maybe), Koawi (Probably not spelt right), And Kingfish.

Put it this way. You only live once, So Im gonna take advantage whilst I can.

Good for you Lewis, something I have fancied many times doing, but never seem to get it sorted.
Reasonably happy marriage doesn't help, my wife wouldn't mind me going one bit, but three months is a little too long, and as for doing lots of climbing/walking, I feel I just couldn't keep up any more.
Have a great time Matey.

If you did one to the Czech Rep. or similar then I would be keen but to go to NZ requires a min of a week and Mrs SKB wont be keen on that as she has already planned "my" holidays next year and there wont be any fishing breaks

I thought it was 'Kiwi' - I've heard at night, along the beach, using a worm pattern works well...
