Default Naples, Florida

Hi folks, wondering if anyone has any info on fly fishing in Naples, Florida. Visiting there next year and will be doing some sea fishing but would love to do some fly fishing when I am over there. I hear there can be some lovely sea trout. Saltwater, lakes, rivers, any info much appreciated

Thanks

Spent a couple of holidays in Naples but never went fishing. Fly anglers on the beach was pretty regular.

Had a holiday in Sarasota a couple of years back, not far from Naples. I did'nt fly fish, but there were plenty of fly fishermen fishiung the surf. I fished from the jetty's & piers, the fishing was unbelievable, I was catching small shark, Stingrays, Reds, Lady Fish and loads of Jacks and King Mackeral, caught on Lures and bait, mostly fresh shrimp. Fishing seems to be a way of life out thereWalmart and Kmart.
Hope you enjoy your trip.
Gary.

Capt. Jeff Legutki: Everglades Fly Fishing Guide, Naples Florida Fishing Trips, Naples, FL Fishing Charters, Everglades Fishing Guide

Capt Jeff Legutki is your man, you could not fish with a nicer captain and he will put you on fish, guaranteed.

Chokoloskee will only be down the road from Naples and the Everglades are by far my favourite place to fish in the world

Without knowing what month it's hard to say what to concentrate on species wise but if you are looking for a fly fishijng guide ( that is pretty much all he does ) then contact Kyle at TARPON DAZE - Marco Island Naples Tarpon Fishing Fly Fishing Guided Charters - Capt. Kyle Giampaoli

I have fished with him personally and had some great fishing.
The redfish at the moment is worldclass - i just received a fishing report from him about 2 weeks ago.

Hi. I have visited Naples for the last ten years or so and spend every morning on the beach fly fishing. I stay at the Naples grande which is about 15 minutes north of 'downtown'. There is a pass there called clam pass and I stand on the sand bar as the sun comes up. The fishing is fantastic! I use a seven weight with floating line and the go to fly is a chartreuse and white clouser size 8 or 6. If the tide is right first thing in the morning (ie moving) the fishing can be frantic with fish (and dolphins!) busting everywhere. Ladyfish are commonplace with snook, jacks, Spanish mackerel and I've even had bluefish.
I always go in October so it may be a bit different during other times.

When the sun comes up you can stalk the beach for snook which patrol the trough about two foot into the water. Small tan Charlie's or gotchas work but it's very tricky fishing as theyre spooky. Stand well up the beach and try and get the fly in position well before the snook arrives then short strips should get its attention.
Hope that helps
