Default Scotland trip

Hey Folks,
I live near Lincoln and later this month I am taking a trip to see family in Scotland, who live very near Carron Valley which I got the chance to fish earlier this year. It looks like I'm going to get the chance to go fishing about 3 or 4 times and was wondering if anyone had special recommendations near this area. I guess I'm game for anything within a couple of hours travel.

To gauge my experience this is my first season fishing, I have only fished small/large still-water, I do catch but not many and I travel real light i.e. no waders.

thanks in advance.

N

If it the end of the month I think Carron closes on 6th and North Third on 16th. But i'd recommend Lake of Mentieth its fished its head off recently and the fish quality has been fantastic, just check on their site for boat availibility and the fishing reports will give you an idea where to fish.

Lake of Menteith Fisheries - Best Rainbow & Brown Trout Fishing in Scotland

If you fancy somewhere different Frandy Fishery is aways worth a go.

Just remember the brownie water will all be shut.
Plenty of small stillwater full of rainbows though. Those already mentioned and the likes of Swanswater, Burnhouse, Wellsfield.
All within spitting distance of Carron and no need for waders.

You can also fish for grayling after the 6th. Three river systems that have them are: The Clyde, The Tweed and the Tay. All well within two hours drive of Carron Valley.

The Earn is closer than the Tay for grayling fishing.

We are also open all year and within your two hour window.

Depends on the beat, but your correct getting access to some of the better spots is a right pain when you can't wade.
