Default Best Kola river for spey casting, wading and scenery?

Hi,

Myself and a few buddies are completely addicted to two-handed rods and spey casting.

We typically fish in Canada for steelhead but are considering a "once in a lifetime" trip to the Kola to spey fish for Atlantics.

Just wondering which river is best for spey fishing. That is, knee deep wading and stepping down after each cast.

Scenery and obviously chances at fish are also priorities.

From our initial research the mighty Ponoi might be lower on our list since it's a huge river and some spots are fished out of a boat. We've also seen other rivers where you're casting off rock cliffs (e.g. Litza falls).

We're all in our late 30s and in good physical shape. We don't need to be pampered but I believe pretty much all the outfits on the Kola are higher end experiences.

Many thanks in advance,
Preston

Time of year is very important, unfortunately reflected in the prices, please don't rule out a Ponoi trip in mid June, given the group's overall fitness I'd consider a trip down the Acha tributary, although the only anglers I've seen doing this are "mad" Scandinavians. That camp's main river fishing is good and provides easy wading from the bank. Myself I enjoy fishing from the boats, only it really is just as good from the bank, think of the boats as transport if you like.
The lower Acha and 'home' Ponoi junction pool are mostly fished off the bank during out of hours periods and 'white nights' if you've the stamina.

Have a browse around this site.

Salmon Fly Fishing in Russia, Kola Peninsula

will give you alternate ideas!

before you finally decide, contact Nick Armstead at Gamefish Edinburgh, he is a Kola veteran of many years, and could probably help organise trip.
