Default Coming to the UK fishing/accomadation.??

Heya All,
Im new to the forum, so pardon some of my silly questions in the future.

My (edited:Fianceé not on the trip now.) Gud friend of mine and I are thinking of arranging a trip across the pond from Ireland to the UK/Wales/Scotland.

I am an avid fisherman, intrested in tighting into some nice trout while im over there.

I am just wondering is there anywhere that you guys can reccomend for us to go.. We are open to suggestions.?

There is just a few things that are needed,
1. rivers or stocked lake for me to fish some decent quailty trout..
2. Decent fun filled fishing. with the prospect of hooking and returning some decnt hard fighting fish.
3, Somehwere near a major airport, not far by public transport for ease of travel as not driving.

Thanks very much for takin the time to read the pos. Look forward to your replies.

edited: Ps: the Fianceé is not joining me on the adventure from now. I have instead listed a good friend of mine who will join me in the stalking of the brownies.

Any decent info links, or advise on where to go and possibly stay would be greatly appricated.

Hi,
I have a few suggestions for Devon but how deep are your pockets?
Devon has everything you will need.
Cheers
Richard

Cardiff's a good bet, far too many shops, brilliant night life, thriving arts scene and world class sports events. The Cardiff Festival runs right through the summer, some of the events are amazing.

More importantly there's plenty of river and lake fishing in the area owned by fishing associations that allow public access at surprisingly reasonable rates. The Taff runs through the city centre, it's full of trout and gets a run of salmon and sea trout, the Ogmore and Usk are nearby if conditions on the Taff are unfavourable while the mountain lakes and stocked reservoirs are handy if there's a flood. I'm biased as I live in Cardiff but other than Edinburgh and Newcastle I can't think of anywhere else that fits the bill so well.

Hi richard,

Where abouts would devon fisheries ly from any of the main stream airports.

The plan has changed so it sjust going to be my good friend and myself.. the misses has lost intrest in sittin by the banks of the rivers all day.. haha

My pockets would not be too deep but my imagination can run wild.. haha

Once the prices and locations (ease of transport, without paying fortunes for public transport) are reasonable it would be a thaught.

Look forward to your suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Wayne

Hi Allan,

Thanks for the reply.. Just a heads up.. the misses is not joining me now. as she has made alternative arrangements.

which leaves me an a good friend of mine free to roam the banks..

Have you any good links that you could share relating to chester.?

Also is it near any major airports.?

Is it still water or river fishing.?

What would be available to catch.?

Exeter airport is the nearest.
Then you are spoilt for choice, Teign, Dart and angling passport scheme.
Orvis and Exeter angling close by, and a great fly fishing shop in Crediton.
Loads of b&b's around Dartmoor.
Cheers
Richard

Thank you very much Richard,
How far is the river from the Dartmoor area.. If i was to get a plane to exeter, what distance would i be expected to travel to get to the B&B and get fishing..

There will be 2 of us, and neither driving. so dont want to be spending a fortune in bus an taxi fares..

Thanks again

Wayne

Hi MS, the Taff's just as good as the Usk for brown trout but August isn't the best month for them, morning and evening sessions are favourite. Check your PMs
