Default Mull trip

Going to be doing a couple of weeks on Mull. Planning on staying down the southern end near loch Assapol. Has anybody fished this loch, any tips would be greatly appreciated or recommendations for other venues where I can fish from the bank? failing that is it worth having a go after pollock?

Assapool a nice wee loch offering brown trout sea trout and the ocassional salmon, the best fishing on Mull is Loch Ba my old 'stamping ground' fishes well from the bank river and loch mainly salmon and sea trout can be difficult to get a permit though-very popular and reasonably priced.
Loch Frisa just outside of Salen village lot of wild brownies-ocassional salmon.
Mishnish lochs Tobermory for big brownies.
Aros loch for wild brownies and escapee rainbows.
Glenmore lochs..x3 salmon sea trout ocassional brownies
There are numerous hill lochs too but the above mentioned are probably the best of the loch fishings.
Rivers ..Ba
Forsa
Colladoir
Bellart
Aros
All for salmon and sea trout but are spate rivers

Hi Archie ,
It is yes..The lower loch -if the wind is in your favour fishes well at the outflow there are thick weed beds and plenty of food for the trout just beyond the boathouse heading 'upstream' as it were..weed beds quite close to shore fish well too and should'nt pose a problem playing a fish..
Likewise on the middle loch too..the top Loch yet again as described however the further most shore under the 'cliff ' has produced quality fish ..
The water is well maintained and stocked regularly but these fish are as wild as they come ! up to 3lbs plus beautifully marked.
Standard loch style patterns 10's 12's and 8's ..
Situated virtually on the roadside the lochs are easily reached on foot.
Been a while since I fished them last but some of my best trout @ 3lb plus came from here !

John
