Default Kingfish in NZ not ff

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Guys, had a ball on the weekend, speed jigging and live baiting for kingfish. If you have never done this you have to give it a go!
Here is a link to a video my buddy put together of the trip, one of the best trips I have ever had!

Hi Guys, airline tickets are up to you! The trip is out of Whitianga on the eastern coast of the Coromandel in the North Island. The charter company runs two boats, one out of Tairua and the one we went on out of Whitianga.
The actual spot is about a 40 minute run out the back of the Mercury Islands, if you google map the merc's you will drool at some of the fishy spots around them!
All the best.

Default Coromandel

Hello Mike

I have some video here I shot back in the 70's LBG fishing on the Coromandel with livies under balloons.I have on film a huge kingie which came in real close and did not take the bait.Later was reefed using a piper. We used Kahawai which we chummed up and caught. We did catch a couple that day but no where near the size of "she"

My folks lived in Whangarei for many years and I still have family there in Kerikeri and would you believe now in Coromandel.I have been planning another trip for a few years although really for the trout fishing and maybe some salty fly fishing but I well remember the fishing I experienced in New Zealand.Back then it was like the land time forgot.

J.P. if you ever make it back to NZ give me a heads up and I will make a day to take you down the Waikato area for a fly fish. Of course most of the larger rivers in the Coromandel have some trout as well!
All the best.
Mike
