I stayed at the hotel in Bad Ischl 5 years ago and fished all three. The Ischler Ache was full of dead brown trout, the result of a very hot summer as I later found out. The Goiserer Traun seemed to be devoid of fish. I found one small rising grayling and eventually caught it after 20 minutes of persistence. Again, the reason was that the river had been seriously warmed up by the water coming out of the lake. Lovely river, though, and very clear. The access was quite good.
The Ebenseer Traun was better. I fished it on the last day of our trip and caught 17 rainbows on a variety of nymphs. Access is a bit tricky because of the road that runs alongside. Again very clear water. One of the techniques that seems to work quite well there is to use a big bushy sedge and skate it across the surface. Probably find that a muddler, or even a booby, would work just as well.
Overall, I would say I get better fishing down south in Austria at a quarter of the price, but the Traun, like the Test, has the "name" and it was worth the trip because of that. Would I return? For the fishing - probably not, but for the scenery and the elegance of Gmunden and the visit to Roman Moser's shop, then yes.
