Default New Zealand swffing

I see that New Zealand comes highly recommended for trout but how does it stack up for Swffing?
It's a way off yet but there's a possibility of a trip over that way.

The trout fishing is superb everywhere you go . I meant to fish the saltwater for kahawai but never got round to it. Defintely worth some research if you want to fish the salt.

Not SWFF'ing but just spinning I wet waded out from a beach on the Coromandel till I was nearly in to my oxters. After 5 minutes or so something bloody bit me! Not the fatal or severed limb type of bite but something with a gape about the size of an eggcup gripped me on the side and gave a a bloomin good shake before letting go again
I came out of the water pretty damned fast I can tell you, possibly even screaming like a girl

NZ's SWFF scene has been covered in Flylife magazine over the years and as with Australia the potential is unlimited. This is just outside my door upon returning home from living on Lough Corrib. TL

Come on down, the water is warm and the fish are biting!
The swf fishing here can be fantastic, though a boat is a big help. The main fish you can expect is Kahawai, Snapper, Trevally and Kingfish. If you can find a copy of a dvd called The Green Tide it will give you a good idea of what is available. The bit when they are hooking kingfish from around the marker poles in the Manukau is a real eye opener.
If you do not have access to a boat then land based fishing can be good, the far north is the place to be, places like Parengarenga harbour or any of the rocky platforms around the bay of islands. If you want a guide google Craig Worthington.
All the best
Mike

Default New Zealand fishing

Hi,
I travel to New Zealand every summer, and I've gotta say its well worth a visit. The fishing is out of this world, both trout fishing and saltwater loads of fish that will give your reel a run for its money. Like other people have commented the North Island is the best better for Saltwater but the fishing on both Islands is amazing. I would move out there if I had the money. Definately in the top 10 places to fish before you die.

Cheers
Lewis
