Go to Ardbrecknish and get a boat. Can be very hard work from the bank.Unless your bait fishing for escapee rainbows.
Good camping areas on the east bank.if you can find a place to put your tent amongst the litter left by the buckie brigade.

Loch Awe has a big fish farm on it.which looses rainbows on a regular basis,so the loch is stuffed with these Farmed rainbows.Hence the Frequent visits by the Buckie bubblefloat brigade. But they 'mostly' fish in the pass of Brander opposite the fish farm.Just watch out for thieves.
Ardbrecknish hires out boats.

Been going to Loch Awe for nigh on 30 year and can only say ive come accross one tealeaf in that time . When im up there a fish from the bank with the fly rod and have met some characters along the way . Not everybody that goes up is in the buckfast brigade . Go and enjoy it . Early season is usually best ive had Brown trout to 3lb the last few years .

Hi Smudger, Loch Awe is certainly not stuffed with escape rainbows just in case you think you are going to go and catch a barrow load. I fish it regulary from the boat and it has been some time since rainbows featured in our catch. Have to agree with Hillmoser that not everybody that goes up is in the buckfast brigade and it fishes better from the start of the season up until June.

You can also hire boats here

Default Loch Awe

Hi Smudger,
I fish regularly from the bank which is productive...Try the Kilchurn Castle end of the Loch just beyond Loch Awe village...OR at Ford Bay both fish well..
' The Buckie Brigade ' tend to fish around the fish farm cages that is true but ...a long long way off the pike fishings...
Loch Ederline is also worth a look if you are heading to the Ford end of Awe I've taken pike to 18 lbs from here but there are better specimens to be had....
Ederline has a good reputation for fishing: the Hill Lochs have excellent brown trout in over 19 lochs, 6 of which have boats.

Loch Ederline which has course fishing, pike, perch and roach, with pike caught regularly over 10lbs. (The record being 32lbs in early 1997).

Follow link - Ederlines - This private estate is an unspoilt landscape of woods moorland, network of burns and lochs, rocky hills and an abundance of wildlife.

John must do better

Loch Awe has some crazy hatches of very big Mayfly. There is plenty of areas where you can catch brownies from the loch shore and you won't meet another soul allday. Its a massive loch but if you can go on a weekday.

The Roach are another alien species which will cause problems in time Inconsiderate, idiotic people using live bait and allowing them to escape or releasing the left over bait
