Default Loch Laidon,Loch Eigheach or Loch Ossian.

Hi All,
Having a Family holiday near Arrochar at Easter, last week of April.
I'm thinking of getting the train from Tarbet to Rannoch or Ossian, for a day Trout fishing with the Nephew,12,so looking for easy bank fishing.
The Lakeland waters fish well in March and April,so I'm hoping it will be a decent time for these waters.
If Anyone has info on permits and which might be the best bet,it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks Kev.

I would get the citylink bus from Tarbert and get off at Loch Ba, only takes about an hour. There are a few lochs around there including Ba and the bus service is a bit more regular than the train to Rannoch or Ossian in case you have to bail out because of the weather.

I'm up that direction at the Easter weekend so PM me nearer the time and we may be able to work something out.

Sandy,
Thanks for the info.
Do You think Loch Ba would be a better bet? Passed it a couple of years back,on a frosty February morning,it looks an awesome Loch.
I do have a car, just thinking the waters up on Rannoch Moor might get less pressure than the road side Lochs.
Would be interested in any waters within a reasonble travelling distance.
Thanks Kev.

It can be extremely cold up there in April. I was at Loch Ossian in May a few years back and there was an overnight fall of snow of about 3 inches. Much of the moor is about 100 feet above sea level so it is a little bit colder. It can be wonderful though if you get a nice warm spell. You've got a good mentor in Sandy.

Ba will probably be busy but na h'Achlaise on the other side of the road should be quieter.

Here is a trip I did early May.

Loch Ba Trip Report Brown Trout Fishing in Scotland

Pictures of Loch Ba Rannoch Moor Glencoe

We were the only people I saw on the loch but it wasn't a holiday weekend

Keep close to the shore and watch out for deep cut gulleys and peat hags though.

I also meant to say.

Eighach, Laidon and Ossian will all be busy too as it is the holiday weekend. They are all favourites of the central belt worm drowners
