Default Arran

Hey,

I was thinking of taking the good lady away for a few nights prob in April to Auchrannie Spa Resort in Arran, but it turns out that she is busy so i have decided to take the wife instead , anyway, any guys on here that fish Arran or live on Arran that could give some advice to river fishing as i will need something to do while she is in having the beauty treatments etc.

PM me if need be.

Cheers

There really isn't much fishing. The local club do day tickets for Loch Garbad from the Tourist Info. Haven't fished it but it's got wild and stocked browns. There are 2 salmon rivers but only available on weekly lets and expensive for indifferent fishing. You'd probably do better in the sea, though April's a bit early for the mackerel.

fishing arran - fresh and saltwater angling for the rivers

Or just enjoy being a tourist. The ring road around the island takes you through some marvellous scenery.

...And make sure you try Arran Ale in its many guises - lovely brew. My particular favourite is the Sunset flavour - half way between a lager and a strong bitter. Lovely stuff!
And in case you've never been, the Auchrannie is terrific - well worth trying the main restaurant, which serves some fabulous food at tolerable prices.
Be interested to hear if you find any decent fishing as we'll no doubt be going back to the island some time this year.

Arran Blonde Ale all the way!

My old man has been at Auchrannie and loved it. Even enjoyed the hot stone massage his good lady persuaded him to try... so if you can't find any fishing...
