I know nothing of Paducah, but i can tell you from there it is only a 5 hour drive west to Flippin, Arkansas where world record brown trout are waiting to be taken on the fly from the White River. You may know Davy Wotton 7. Guides-Fly fishing guides white river trout fly fishing float or wade trips, Davy Wotton. He is a transplanted Brit with excellent knowledge of fly and river. I live in New England, but if I were only 5 hours from the White, I'd be heading there.

Tight lines.

Thanks Bob o you certainly wetted my appetite.
Had some fun on the fly below KY dam and Barkley dam last year.
Caught striped bass, crappie, drum, shad and foul hooked those horrid asian carp.
Locals gave me some strange looks because i was fly fishing.
Then Nashville took a big hit with the storms and it was rain stop play as all the major TN rivers flow through KY
Thanks again
tight lines

I'm a long way from Kentucky, but in general I can tell you that there is decent trout fishing in that region, including as you already know, some very good tailwater rivers.

I would also say that if you really want to maximize the fun, don't focus only on trout as the smallmouth/largemouth bass opportunities could be easier to come by in some areas.

Overall, I'd say you'd get good specific info by posting the question on one of the bigger US boards.
