Default Fly Fishing in Loch Rannoch Area

Hello everyone,

I am heading to the Loch Rannoch area on a wee family holiday at the tail end of July. Will be getting one or two evenings fishing and was just looking for some advice on where to fish. Ideally I'd like to get a boat out on the loch of choice but bank is fine.

Cheers,

Coco

I fished Rannoch one year, it cost me £45 for a boat for the day.

I'm sure the guys from up in Scotland will know of others.

Andy

Lock Faskaly (spelling) on the north side of Pitlochry wont be too far away.

Would give loch laidon at rannoch station a go, you,ll get plenty of sport there with 1/2-3/4 pound trout and there is some large residents about. ALSO TAKE PLENTY MIDGE REPELLENT WITH YOU

There have been several threads about the area in recent years. Use the google search facility (at the bottom of the page) and you'll find plenty of info. Rannoch trout are lovely fish. If you're confined to the bank, fish the burnmouths.

I too would do Laidon which is "next door"
Rannoch can be a tough shift fishes well in a blow.(i wouldnt like to use a leccy on it) fish the margins with the usual suspects ordies, kates and zulus on the bob and an invicta on the point.10s for the bob is its a decent wave and 12/14 point flees.
When its "on" heather flies/foam beetles early evening can produce spectacular sport.
Take the "Skin So Soft" for the midges worst place on earth for them.

Never a truer bit of advice.
