Default Russia. Habarovsk region. Gigantic fish

I think that very few people knows, where this place is located. It is the east of Russia, coast of Okhotsk sea. It is far, but is closer, than all known Kamchatka. The main advantage of this edge consists in its huge fishes. It is a taimen.

Steelhead is a Kamchatka Peninsula fish only. Another pacific salmons we may fish the both sides of Okhotsk See- Kamchatka and Habarovsk region. If you are interesting- you may look in Chavanga - Home \fishing\program 4 and program 5 and in Gallery - Habarovsk region and in Kamchatka program

Hi! Taimen Huco Huco usually are staying in a deepest sites of the river but sometimes fishes are feeding in a very shallow water. So the fishing tactic is very different. The best flies- large streamers or huge surface flies imitating big mouse or squirrels.

I once got on a trip after these things in 1991 .

I wouldn't have missed it for anything in retrospect - but something went sadly wrong and we wound up on Sakhalin - where we caught a fair few of the sea running Taimen - Hucho Perryi , probably a world first on the fly - and a cracking fish.

And in transit we managed to lose 3 Dutchmen in Khabarovsk Airport - my , that was a 'Black Eye' for Intourist

Fantastic Taimen on the photos - however after that strange experience I likely wouldn't go back .

Good Luck Russia

Steve P
