On the 28th of August the Connaught Angling Council (CAC), in conjunction with St Colmans, Cregmore/Athenry Anglers’ and Tuam Anglers' held the TAFI Interprovincial River Fly Fishing Championship on the Clare River. The competition was held on a catch and release basis. In near perfect conditions 35 anglers caught 212 trout. 1st prize went to Seán Bowen (Munster) with 22 fish, 2nd prize went Liam Foley (Munster) who also had 22 fish, and 3rd prize went to Dave O’Donavan (Munster) with 16 fish. There was only 3cm separating Seán and Dave and both of them fished on the same beat!! The heaviest fish of the day went to Joe O’Connor (Munster), a specimen of 63cm’s. Kevin Mitchell who was Connaught’s top angler on the day finished in 5th with 11 fish and also a fine specimen at 57cm’s. The provincial winners were Munster once again. Congratulations to those who are eligible to fish for the Irish Team, in either Slovenia (World Championship) or Portugal (Europeans).

Once again, CAC would like to thank all those who helped organised the event and also the Ard Rí House hotel for the facilities and food provided on the day.

So now we know who blackwaterman is. He accuses a lot of people of cheating. People in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones.
