Default AIRFLO HEAT BANKHOUSE FLY FISHERY

The final heat of the 2010 airflo bank international was held at Bankhouse fly fishery in Lancashire consisting of 16 anglers which included 3 teams and 12 individuals conditions on the day were overcast with a gentle breeze seemingly perfect.
Looking round before the start it looked like many anglers were preferring to opt for the indicator with various flies from minkies, buzzers and tin head egg flies with the option of a number of midge tips and slime lines being the other set up,
after the first half of the match looking at the score cards it wasn,t as easy as some had forecast with the teams dividing into seperate parts of the lake i presumed this was to discuss tactics and how they had faired, however as predicted it was going to be down to the wire with 1 session to go all 3 teams were on the same number of fish as was the individual event with 3 anglers on the same number ,so as the last session got underway you could see a number of fish been landed and more being dropped at the net so as the final whistle went there were a number of nervous smiles around the fishery thinking had they done enough knowing that not 1 angler had been catching consistantly .

TEAM winners were MIDGE LINERS with 16 fish

INDIVIDUAL
1st Barry Huchinson 7 fish
2nd Mike Hobman 6fish
3rd Graeme Bell 6 fish

fish caught 49 rod av 3.5

best flies tinhead egg flies, bloodworms, crunchers and white fritz

just a mention for Gordon Swain who had a good day and caught 14 on tinhead egg flies and olive bloodworms

GOOD LUCK TO ALL IN THE FINAL

Thanks Hookup,

Bank House also looks strong with the largest fish caught through out the heats............ A stunning 12lb Brown returned by Mick Hobman.

That does indeed conclude this years Airflo heats, a big thank you to all the fisheries, angler's and especially Jim Juck for looking after the North, Alan Tongue for all his work behind the scene, I'd have been knackered without your help Al !, thank you.

All final invitations will be sent very shortly.

Unfortunately i had to cap. the final heats due to angler space needed in the final, so we didn't quite make the 500 entries we were aiming for. But we were close........
Next year though.

Looking forward to the finals..........

Fred.
