Cheers for the responce Skinny
Like Chickenfish said, no one was mentioning names except YOU.
I had heard that some angler was allowed to fish on their own, which I thought very strange. I wasn't sure who, but thanks for letting us all know exactly who it was.
Were there any other anglers who fished on their own in this comp, or was it just the eventual winner.

Id say it was mate.

with only himself and god to talk to out in the boat.
Only joking. But seriously though.
The reason why i thought it was strange is because it is "exceptionally unusual" for any competitor to fish "on his / her own" during a competition in ireland, especially when there is a 3500 euro boat up for first prize. Normally if a partner doesn't turn up, another "neutral" or "non competing" angler will fish with the other angler to keep things fair and above board. Like in golf where a "marker" will be allocated to keep another golfer's score.
Ive fished many many competitions over the years and have NEVER been at one where someone was allowed to fish on their own.
From reading the posts of others on this thread it would appear that "the same angler p****d his boat partner off so much on the second day, by keeping him stuck to the shore: that he left the lake early leaving the other man to fish on his own for the second day in a row".
So if im reading this thread correctly,(and please correct me if im wrong)
does that mean that the angler who eventually won the boat valued at 3500 euro, actually fished for one and a half days out of 2 days "on his own".

And if this is true, how many fish did he have when he dropped his unhappy partner off early on the second day
Ive also heard that aerator boxes are allowed to be used in this competition (to keep fish alive ) is this true ?????
Again if that is true, i find it hard to believe, as ive never seen anything like this happen in ireland before. Perhaps it happens all the time in competitions that i dont fish. But in the major comps like the World Cup, Melvin Open, European Cup, Ulsters, & National Championships, this would never be allowed to happen. I myself have been left standing on the shore in the past,(for over 2 hours) as my partner / boatman had failed to turn up. But I wasn't allowed to go out until someone else was found to go out with.
I think you need to look at things for a distance mate. All I am saying is that, in a individual competition, to make things 100% fair for all participating anglers, no one should be allowed to fish on their own at any time. Wether it's an angler who is honest and whiter than white, or an angler who has a history and likes to bend or break rules, it doesn't matter mate, it should be fair for everyone. Unfortunately there are anglers out there who will do anything to win. We have seen that at the 2009 Troutmasters final, and at a big Irish Competition in 1998.

to mention a few.
So im not getting at any one individual. I just find it hard to believe that anglers are allowed to fish on their own when there is such a major prize up for grabs.
If this is a regular thing where anglers can fish on their own, then i dont think id ever want to fish it.
I dont know what do others think. ?? Should anglers be allowed to fish on their own when there is a prize with such a high value up for grabs.??
But hey ho mate. Thanks for putting a smile on my face

Youve put an image in my head that will make me smile for years to come
