When things are going 'slow'... the 1lb bonus seems fine trust me.... But I cannot help thinking to be sat in a boat for up to 7 hrs not fishing is a brain numbing experiance... Been there..... ... there has to be a way forward where c&r can be practised but maybe 'not' go towards a bag weight.. keep the time bonus in whatever guise but allow the angler to at least enjoy a 'days' fishing eh?..

well said...1 lb per hour makes it a mockery of a match and the only purpose is to bring the field closer together...giving the poorer teams a chance....

the only people who agree with 1 lb an hour bonus are not match anglers....and should either accept there not good enough or practice harder..

as for fishing on when you've completed your limit....No Way....you are basically catching fish your boat partner or others should be catching.....

If you fish comps you should accept that when you finish quick your going to be successful........and that you've done for the day....if you want to fish all day then go pleasure fishing...

I think Rob the ' bigger ' picture has been taken into account mate, and the facts are that we are proberbly in a minority when it comes to 2lb per hour bonuses, { although a lot of lads this weekend and last weekend voiced there feelings against the 1lb }, Comps. are as you say now drawn closer together and teams etc that may well have struggled before now stand a better chance.
Anyway............ my feeling is an event like the Anglian 4 man at Rutland without a bonus at all is great , but major ones like the Lexus + Airflo should go back to 2lb.

Maybe in the finals catch + release could be introduced........... i'm sure enough controllers could be drafted in by the organizers so that each boat can be refereed. Yes, that would be a lot of people but i'm sure many would angler's not attending the finals would help out.

You could go out then and have a real match !

2lb an hour would be fairer, but I would prefer to see a four fish limit then catch and release format. At least your fishing all day then.
