Yes well done guys... and not a 'lookalike' Pike float and suspended team of Blobs 1ft apart among them!!! Seriously.... is that 'Flyfishing'??????? If I ever have to resort to those 'methods' then god help me!!!!... BTW, I fished within the 'ethics' of the sport ... and blanked!!!

But surely if you are within the rules then you within the 'ethics' as you are not cheating.

1. (used with a singular or plural verb) a system of moral principles: the ethics of a culture.

2. the rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group, culture, etc.: medical ethics; Christian ethics.

3. moral principles, as of an individual: His ethics forbade betrayal of a confidence.

4. (usually used with a singular verb) that branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions.

This is an interesting argument which has been raised in other sports recently about playing within the spirit of competition. I'm of the school of thought that as long as you are within the rules of competition then that's fine, after all you are competing to win.

Ethics within the 'rules' or within the 'sport' are far different! Dangling blobs beneath a float is a method that should be considered not to be within the ethics of our sport and condemned!!... anyone who deems this as 'ethical' needs to concider wether or not 'Flyfishing' is for them??.. Opinions are like @rseholes... we all have them and this is based on mine!! If you so called flyfishermen need to go floatfishing for trout.... and consider this an ethical method... I suggest coarse fishing instead and stop pretending its a skillful method... No wonder numbers are down in comps!!!..

I personally agree with you as I don't have a bung in any of my fly boxes and also think this is float fishing not fly fishing. However, it is currently a method which is within the rules and it doesn’t have to be skilful as long as it catches fish, I think in football terms it would be called winning ugly.

I also think Competition fly fishing is a different beast to your ordinary leisure angler.

Hi Cap,

Just to clarify as it looks/reads that we could have been using ' bungs ' nd ' blobs'....... we definatly didn't....... none of my team set up on match day with a bung...
Thanks to Ed for another great final and a big thanks to Ed's officials.... most of the guy's do it year in year out and they are absolute diamonds.
