Default 2009 itffa interprovincial championships

WELL DONE ULSTER on winning the ITFFA Interprovincial today on Lough Arrow . Well done all those that have qualified to represent Ireland at the 2010 Home Internationals.

Not sure of all those that have made the teams. Should have a full list of results soon.

I did hear that some forum members caught fish. Chris Dickey, Chunky, and The Dibbler. Not sure if they made the teams but well done.

Any results? Who qualified?

OO, if you're feeling brave how about explaining how the Irish qualification system works again. I almost understood it the last time it was explained to me but I was drunk at the time.

Aye Graham, sure ya know me mate, ill have a go at anything.

Basically there are about 500 anglers who take part. We all meet upand go to the biggest pub in Dublin, and the last 28 anglers left standing get on the Team.

If only it were that easy mate

Seriously though. Right here goes. There are two matches each year that an angler can qualify for Ireland from. The National and the Interprovincial.

The starting process is in each of the four provinces. Im from Ulster, so if I want to try to qualify for Ireland my starting point is the Ulster Champonships. So say I fish the 2010 Ulster Championships. Heres how it works under the current system. The top 30 anglers from each province qualify for the 2011 National Champonships. The top 18 anglers from each province qualify for the 2010 Interprovincial Championships.

At the National Championships the top 10 anglers qualifiy to represent Ireland (Odd numbers go to Spring and Even numbers go to Autumn)

At the Interprovincial Championships the top 10 anglers qualify to represent Ireland (Odd number go to Autumn and Even numbers go to Spring.

The top 4 anglers at an International roll over to the next International (ie if your top 4 at Spring you retain your place for next Spring)

Thats basically the current system my friend. Simple .

So youve had this explained to you before and you still cant understand it And ya have a cheek to call us Irish stupid

Thanks for that OO,

Seems simple enough, it must have been the drink!

You get some good numbers entering, I reckon both Ireland and Scotland get more anglers entering the Eliminators (sorry, I meant Qualifiers, Eliminators is deemed too negative in England) than England. I think we only had just over 300 enter this year.

The Welsh get less than us entering but, because of this, are able to fish a series of qualifiers which seems to weed out the less consistent anglers.

It's amazing that we do as well as we do really.

All the best,

Graham
