Well done to all the teams and all involved . It was a tough days fishing on Tummel and the competitors all fished hard. I think Mike Tinnion (eng) may have been the top rod. I know he had a 4 and a 5 in the morning sessions. Jim Fairgrieve was top scots rod .

Unlucky Scotland.

Had a good day up the Tummel yesterday (except for the result ). I controlled Davie Chalmers in the morning who had 1,2 and John Tyzak who had 1,1 (2nd a cracker at 38cm) but they finished 4th and 8th respectively. Thats how hard some of the fishing was. Had good crack in the hotel afterwards, made some new friends and reaquainted with some others, how are your ears Mark? Competition fishing, international in particular, takes on a new meaning when you see Chaff and Gibby crossing the Tummel at the bottom of pegleg to get to water they want to fish, catch then run 150-200 yds in full gear, stopping to keep putting the fish in the water , cross the tummel again, (gibby, has the inside of your waders dried out yet?) to meet thier controllers to measure and release the fish. Congratulations to England and comiserations to Wales as they were leading by 4 points going into the last session when the wheels came off and returned 4 blanks and 1 fish.

See you all next year for the worlds

Wullie

The Tummel is a difficult water at this time of year.......unless you're fishing the 'evening rise'. I fished there in the International in 2004 and it was very hard going.

I remember getting a fish on the first afternoon session within a couple of minutes. I toyed with the idea of stopping fishing and leaving the next pool until the next session......I wasn't brave enough and took another fish in the pool during that first session. I got a first for that session but blanked the next.......had I caught a fish in each session I would have got 2 firsts - that's how tough it was.

Reading hametied's post I'm sure that the Welsh boys were gutted. A 4 point lead is a significant one and to lose it in one session is catastrophic. Had it been an easier water it would have been criminal, but my experience shows how narrow the margins are when the going is tough.

Well done again Wales........congratulations England.

Congratulations to England on there great victory! To Mike Tinnion on his indinidual win it could not have happened to a better bloke and to stu wardle for his time and effort that he put in to get the result. WELL DONE.

To all the other anglers well done on fishing with the spirit and friedship that makes this comp so good.

To all the controllers that gave up the time to come and help, THANK YOU.

Cheers Gibby.

Naturally we are delighted to have achieved our first victory in the Scottish-hosted Home River International. And all the England lads echo your comment on Mick's individual success.

Most of all, apart from the superb spirit that these events are fished in and the friendships which are/have been formed (in some cases over many years of competition), I will remember two main things from this particular championship:

1) some of the best long range nymphing I have ever seen from Paul (Bushy) on the flat on A beat... He was catching so many fish in the second session that I thought it was Gibby!!!

and

2) some of the most mad-f*cker wading I have ever seen from the aforementioned Gibby at the bottom of pegleg. Apparently he got "braver" as the afternoon progressed, but sadly I did not witness this!!!

Well done to all and thanks especially to Ken and Wullie who looked after me through the day.

Just like to add my congratulations to the England Team, and to Mick on his individual win......Great performance guys!!........(Though we almost had you!!)
Thanks to all the Scottish organisers, and especially the controllers, to Paul & John, my own controllers...Many thanks.
Thank you JT for your comments, coming from you that's a real compliment!
Being drawn in a group with the likes of John Higgins, John Tyzack and Gibby, I wouldn't have been suprised to had got 4 last positions!!!
Been great to meet up with all you guys again, and to make new friends too. To me at the end of the day, that's even more important than the result. Have a good season guys, hope to catch up with many of you on the Taff next year.

Just like to add my congratulations to the English team and especially to Mike Tinnion on his well deserved individual success.

I know what JT means about Gibby's wading, I think he probably learned a lot from that other Tweed submarine, Jake Harvey.
