The conditions again weren.t good with there being heavy rain the couple of days prior to this heat which meant the water was a dark chocolate colour plus there was a stiff S/W wind which was swirling now and then which made casting difficult on top of this we had a good hour with rain and drizzle then to top it off we had bright sunshine for the last hour
The match started with hi antisipation from 2 of the youngsters in the heat with Paul Runec and Ben Race both thinking thatr they just had to turn up for this one to qualify it looked like it when young ben on his first cast hooked and landed a fish withing the 1st minute

sad to say that was his day over not a sniff the rest of the comp apart from landing a duckling which took his dry fly as he was lets say not paying attention to his line

as for Paul his day dragged on to say at the least according to him it just wasn,t his day well lets just say see yous both in the next round

Second cast on his 1st peg saw Bart Farmer have a double hook up and land them both sadly again that was the only fish that were putr on the score card for Bart who said after the match that he would be taking a break now and concentrate on the finals in Ireland
On the second peg saw Martin Introna land 3 fish in quick succession which would of been his 4th if he hadn,t dropped 1 right at the net in the 1st session whilst Tom clayton was happily chipping away as we couyld here the same voice shouting to the marshall that there was another one in the net .
At dinner time Tom was in the lead with 4 with Martin on 3 and quite a few 2s and only 1 blank
After the break in the 1st session saw Jim Tuck hooking into 8 fish and only managing to land 4 bad angling was coming from the marshall

whilst Martin on the next peg was getting plenty of take but unfortunately none of them were sticking
the next peg seen another few fish being netted again by Jim who then went over and gave Martin the flies that he was catching on

the folowing peg saw Tom land a couple of fish with Gordon Swain also landing a couple ,everyone going into the last peg new the way it was fishing and the way the score board was there were only 2 places to fish for however this session also provided 4 fish for 1 angler in a spate on 10 mins good angling that chap which saw him through to the final at westlowmere the end of the match everyone thanked Tracey for her braving the weather and mashalling results as follows
!st Jim Tuck 10 fish
2nd Tom Clayton 7 fish
3rd Gordon Swain 7 fish
40 fish caught
Rod Ave 3.3
