Yup, I heard he had four off the bank and seven off the boat, was not sure of the result but I am not surprised.

Well done Rob, top bloke.

Gave me some advice & sent me some flies at his own cost when I was starting out - something I'll always remember.

Yeah good angling rob!
Four off the bank was hard earned, i had some right lumps in my bag of eight out of savages in the morning and managed one of the bank at gains cove also dropped two was happy with my seventh spot though
Must admit the best part was putting my boat partner on the fish and helping him to a good bag of eight, the smile on his face said it all.

Cheers Craig

Thanks Guys....

Must admit you need a fair amout of luck to win it......as i hadn't practiced i had to opt for a consistantly good peg from the bank....so i choose the South end of the Dam...deep water (especially as it was sunny) and about 50 yards along...so just past the really shallow silted corners and on the drop off...

If this didn't work I also had the whole of the dam to work...where as other spots from the bank really are all or nothing !

Di-8 Shooting Head and a single cat booby on a 6ft leader thrown as far as i could get it......then bounce it along the bottom..Nothing technical and i picked up 4 well mended/overwintered fish and dropped 2...which I was more than happy with..

On the Boat I fished Savages and Sancturay Bay...and again as I hadn't practiced needed to drift in order to find the fish...Leaded black Tadpole on the point and 3 stripped quill buzzers on the droppers on a 20ft leader and midge tip took 3...then i switched back to a Single Cat Booby and a Di-8 to pick up another 5.....(I caught 3 browns so 1 had to go back !)...

Really glad the limit was restricted to 8 fish per session.....hopefully it will mean that some 3-4lb fish make it through to the back end !!
