It is in this threat because it's to do with using bungs in competition fishing.I FOR 1 think all bungs should be ban in competition flyfishing. If they need a float to see takes, why not use a large dry fly which would stop the anglers using bungs with lures.

What??? Ban a method that is totally within the traditions of coarse fishing???? you should be ashamed of yourself... Let me tell you something... if you ban this skillful art you are stopping 'complete noddys' who cannot catch properly from becoming 'experts'.... You will be against them using bait next!! DISGRACEFUL!!!!

I agree with you that it is totally within the traditions of coarse fishing, and thats were it should stay. There should be no place in flyfishing for float fishing, that my opinion on the matter.

Nonsense!! as long as you fish within the fishery and match rules you should be able to fish how you like.

I'm sick of trying to defend a legal method now, we all have our opinions but to call someone a noddy because he likes to use an indicator is out of order.

Some of the best trout anglers regularly use indicators, England internationals too, in fact during practice for the Vision Pairs at Rutland (which we won!!!NODDY OR NOT) we used indicators successfully when searching for feeding fish.

Pimps are not allowed in that comp, the indicator must have a hook and must be able to catch fish.

Now that's me done on the subject, I'm going to polish my International trophy!!!!

What is a indicator that can catch fish? Is that not a large dry fly?

I'm an international, I have silverware... including 'Gold ware' from internationals.... without the use of any type of 'FLOAT'!!! behave yourselves!! Fishery rules eh?... rudder anyone?? pathetic fishmongers!!... go coarse fishing is my advice!... This method (?) is ruining our sport and sport numbers!! To use/condone it only proves you just aint good enough!!

I don't have a problem with people using the bung, but possibly agree that it should be banned in competitions as there really isn’t any great skill involved.

Thats what i said in the start of this thread, that they should be banned in competition flyfishing. If anglers want to use them when out for a days fish with mates i see no problem there
