If i was you i would do competitions as a individal ,without joining a club, that can cost you lots of money.

You don't need a club to fish comps, I dont belong to a club.

Look for individual comps, I run the Alan West comp every April, then there's the Lexus Individual etc.

Theres a match calender somwhere on this forum, have a look at that and pick some out.

Lexus individual at Grafham is in August, if you qualify you go into the final where you could win a lexus for a year.

Check out John Horsey's website for further details and if you're interested in next years AWMT let me know.

Best wishes

Andy

This is one of the places that got me going .. follow the link..... they have plenty of club comps and are affilliated to FMFF which is of help if you decide to enter the England loch style eliminators...

A club is always a good idea, for the element of improving your skill through advice of other more experienced. If you go it alone, you might miss out on this. Sure, a club might be more expensive, but the objective of competitions is to win, or do as best as you can, and the way to achieve this, is to become better. This you will arrive at, by fishing with, and learning from others in your club

I disagree with you about the clubs the only way to go,one it is more expensive.if you go into individal comps you will improve your skills with the more comps you fish .

Rutland Water Fly Fishers cost £16 to join and then you just pay your entry fee to the comps, other clubs are very similar in the midlands so not expensive at all.

I didn't say it is the only way to go, I said it is a good idea.
