Thumbs up Lexus team heat - tildarg fishery

I have just spoken to John Horsey and agreed that the venue for the 2010 Lexus Team Heat for Ireland will not be Mill Lough as listed earlier.

Irish teams will now compete in a boat heat to be held at Tildarg Fishery, Co. Antrim on Sat 17 April (same date as advertised previous). The qualifying team(s) will then go on to fish the Final at Rutland Reservoir - 3,4 September 2010.

The fee for a 6 man team is £150.00, plus fishing fees for the day which will be in the region of £15.00 per person. Full rules will be available on the day.

This event is an opportunity for up and coming anglers to get first hand experience of being part of a team event held on a local water from boats. To encourage anyone interested in being part of a team, feel free to send me a pm and I will help hook them up with others who are interested.

Application forms can be obtained direct from Tildarg or downloaded on John Horsey's website (www.johnhorsery.co.uk)- just score out Mill Lough Venue and write in Tildarg as Venue.

Any other information will be added when available.

Tightlines for 2010.
Stephen

Great news for Northern Ireland comp anglers Mill Lough was in my opinion not a suitable venue, as there were logistic problems with boats & the riparian land owners.

Tildarg is in my opinion a much better option to get a Lexus boat heat established in Northern Ireand.

Anyway, great news for Tildarg Fishery. One of Northern Ireland's premier Trout Fisheries

They have a brand new website up and running just a few weeks ago.

Hi DWW,

I would much prefer to see this on somewhere like Melvin or Erne or back on Lough Lene in Westmeath where 15 + teams could take part.

But its better than Mill Lough and its much better than what has been happening over the last couple of years with no heats at all or just one or two teams fishing from the bank on Woodford Fishery in Carrickfergus, and the same team getting to the final each and every year.

I think Tildarg will be able to comfortably accomadate 4 teams on any one day. If there is a need for a bigger venue because more teams enter, then im sure John Horsey would look at the likes of Erne or Melvin.

Small steps mate, small steps. At least this event at Tildarg will get a "proper" loughstyle, team boat competition established in Northern Ireland. After that it can grow if the need dictates.

"If you build it they will come". No point holding it on Lough Erne if only 4 teams are going to enter.

So if it was on Erne or Melvin next year mate, would you enter a team.

I don't know if anyone on here fished the Lexus qualifier on Lough Lene in 2007. 15 teams of 6 anglers took part. 45 boats on a near 1000acre Lough. Now that was the way to do it in my opinion.

Default Lexus Team Tildarg

Mate,

There is no doubt in the possibility of "bashing" some rainbows at Tildarg but I just feel it is a very small lake to be having a team event on for the Ireland heat of the Lexus Team event.

I have nothing against the venue and have fished it myself on a number of occassions and had plenty of fish but as the venue for a "major" competition I have serious doubts....that is unless there is very few teams competing. How does the venue cope if 10 teams want to fish or even more....heats maybe for a final? I would be interested in the details.

Default Lexus Team

Oakham Orange,

Lough Lene I think is the venue for this competition as it has the ability to cater for a large number of anglers and it provides a very fair playing field in my opinion.

However I accept that the proposal for Tildarg is much better in what had previously been established to select a team here by a country mile.

So maybe this comp. will develop into a reasonable event and have to be catered for in a larger venue such as Eskragh or the likes; time will tell.

Regarding myself entering a team......I think I will stick with my pleasure fishing and continue to enjoy my sport to its full....Horses for courses.

Tight Lines
