Default CEFF question

Could anyone tell me how many anglers from each of the federations are put into the English national loch style final and how this is calculated . I know you have odds and sods to find the finalists but was just wandering is it a percentage of each federations membership

It is simply a percentage of the PARTICIPANTS in each eliminator series - usually 20-25%. So, if 40 people fish the eliminators at a venue, then ten go through.

Campbell, if you go into the IFFA.NET site there are links to all the International organisations and I am sure that the CEFF qualifying is outlined in there.
Cheers

Each federation gets a umber of qualifiying places based on their percentage of the overal entry. So for, say, a final at Grafham with 50 boats (100) places and there were 400 entries over all. If the FEFFSR had 40 entries to their qualifiers they would get 10 places (10%)! The problem does come when there is rounding to be taken into account and that can be a bit strange in the way it works.

Hi Campbell, link is http://www.ceff.org.uk/PDF%20Files%2...tution2007.pdf although it is quite far down the pages.

Pretty much the same principles as Scotland, no semi stage but they do not have the waters for larger heats/final and prefer 2 less severe cuts.

Don't know how CEFF do their rounding up, whatever is done it can produce what seems a strange result. Fairest and most consistent way is to stick with same basis, best %age performance qualifies (other opinions may differ).
3 heats, entrants on the day (a) 88, (b) 70 and (c) 46 with target of 25% with 0.5 rounded up. Initial qualifiers would be (a) 22 (b) 18 and (c) 12. If due to call offs after the initial %age was decided or whatever, another 3 were required the best non qualifiers from (a) would be 23/88 (26.14%) and 24/88(27.3%), (b) 19/70 (27.1%), (c) 13/46 (28.3%). 2 would come from a, 1from b and none from c.
If however the following year, same again except 48 in (c), result would still be 12 at first 13/48 is however 27.1% so it would be one from each which at a glance looks inconsistent.
Add a small heat say 26 resulting in 7 with 8/26 (31%), they will not even be in the equation.

Suppose CEFF different in that it is area based, in scotland entrants have a choice of venues. CEFF will have to fix there number from each area at an early date, the number qualifying from each area may look distorted when the results are announced as a result of call offs rather than by rounding up. They will have less need for a final adjustment as they should still get their target number. Scotland set the %age a few days before the first event and if there are call offs after that, the %age applies based on the number competing on the day rather than a fixed number based on the original entry.

Unfortunatly the CEFF do not do the allocation until all qualifiers are completed, So thohse in position 6 -9ish have to wait until the very end before they know if they are through! Somewhat unsatisfactory but there is no way around this as the qualifiers are open to all.

Thanks for all your replies guys I am getting there. I am just trying to find out exactly how each nation gets its national teams, the question has been asked several times but not really answered fully. I had a look at the CEFF but I could not find where it goes into detail about the qualifiers.

Would I be right in saying that any angler who is interested must join the CEFF and indicate his desire to compete in his local federation qualifiers. Once the Confederation gets the total number of entrants they allocate the percentages to each federation as to the number of anglers they can put through to the final from their area. How many participants do they have at the inital rounds.

Default national teams

Hi Camshy , i fished with a welsh guy last year at rutland and what he told me about the welsh set up was spot on , they have a league where you must fish about 4 or 5 different venues so what you are getting is good adaptable anglers , it does make sence to do that to avoid the 1 water angler

tight lines then slack

I have checked the WSTTA web site and their system its pretty straight forward. I dont know if you have to be a member affiliated to WSTTA or an individual member to enter their qualifiers, it looks like about 100 enter. The Irish set up is not that easy to follow and appears to be done over two years
