Default England Rivers National Final

This prestigious event will be fished on the River Dee in 2010 & 2011.

This year's final takes place on 2nd & 3rd August, based at the Hand Hotel in Llangollen.

A qualifying event is being held on 23 & 24 January on the water which will be used in the National Final.

This event is open to all England qualified anglers. For more details and entry forms please contact Martin Dixon on martin.dixon@hotmail.co.uk

Surely what you're meaning to say Mike is that this prestigious ENGLISH event to find the ENGLISH National Rivers Champion is to be fished on a WELSH river

What sort of message does that send out to FIPS Mouche next time we punt to hold the worlds if we cant provide a suitable venue in ENGLAND for our own national championships.

Poor decision if anyone wants my opinion

Still, now the precedents been set, Montana gets my vote for the 2012/13 event and New Zealand for 2014/15, if anyone fancies seconding my proposal

You could be right, then again, why hold our National Final (which is after all intended to select our International Team for Ireland 2011), on a foreign river thats riddled with Grayling when there's no ******* Grayling in Ireland in the first place.

Not the best thought out plan on our part if you're right

You seem to have some fairly strong opinions on this Calder Junky.

Perhaps this would be a good opportunity to volunteer your services to help organise and run such events.

I know that the CEFF usually struggles to find people prepared to put some of their own time into helping run events such as the Nationals.

Cheers!

Graham

I've already offered Graham to help out with this years International on the Tees and will be controlling on the big day in June.

Hopefully see you there.

Just a quick note on this subject; obtaining suitable river venues capable of hosting 32 competitors for an English National Final and practice is not easy.
If anyone can suggest possible clubs/waters etc that may be a possibility for the future, please please get in touch..... just send a pm if you prefer.

With regard to the Dee, Severn Trent Federation (Martin Dixon et al) have kindly offered to organise and run the National on the Dee with support from the local Clubs.

I welcome the offer and the change of venue.....good anglers will still be good anglers on any water.

Best wishes and tight lines to everyone for 2010

Thank you to Martin Dixon and Severn Trent for organising the event. As Stu says it's difficult to find venues and those prepared to run them.

It's a River and riddled with fish. Variety is the spice of life and over the years the Nationals have been held on a variety of venues.

I can't think that the local businesses or Tourist Board will object to the added income and interest.

I agree with Calder Junky on this. If venues are not willing to host events then maybe there is a need to look at the way these events are organised.

The Welsh Dee is a great venue, comparatively central and the hotel is spot on for fishermen.

Well done Mike and all involved.

Oh, and happy new year everyone.
