Gibby a lot to do with that is the amount of entrants, if you get 400 entering the national then down to 200 then down to the finalists with each angler paying a bit more than it costs for the price of the boats in each round, it soon mounts up. Each angler entering knows that he pays a bit more but everyone entering has the chance to represent their country. I thought up until a few years you had a bit of sponsorship from Glen Gairoch or Nomad it may not have been a lot but at least it was something. I think all teams and countries are struggling with sponsorship and its a crying shame to think of the money that anglers are pumping into the fishing Industry. The 2009 loch teams managed to raise over £3000.00 through a lot of hard work from all involved, it was a great excercise not only helping with costs but aided team building which is very important.
Maybe the rivers commitee should up the entry price, make more rounds or try to get more individuals entering as there are roughly only 60 entrants which is a very samll group. You could cut out the soup annd sandwiches after each round and maybe try some fund raising. Mind you its a lot less than the worlds and european where those who can afford it are going. Not an ideal situation but thats the way its seems to be going
