Normally the angler lucky enough to represent his country only has to pay for his accomodation. This can range from £200.00 upwards depending on location. The fishing, travel, meetings etc are all taken care of.

Maybe for the men, training days are paid for by the ladies themselves

Default Fundraiser

Sounds like a great day out. Maybe a chance to pick the brains of some of the top anglers in Scotland!!! A chance not to be missed.

If your lucky enough to get a scottish river cap you get the pleasure of paying for everything out of your own pocket!!!

Same in Wales Gibby unless you can secure sponsorship........a highly unlikely scenario for the next couple of years.

Gibby a lot to do with that is the amount of entrants, if you get 400 entering the national then down to 200 then down to the finalists with each angler paying a bit more than it costs for the price of the boats in each round, it soon mounts up. Each angler entering knows that he pays a bit more but everyone entering has the chance to represent their country. I thought up until a few years you had a bit of sponsorship from Glen Gairoch or Nomad it may not have been a lot but at least it was something. I think all teams and countries are struggling with sponsorship and its a crying shame to think of the money that anglers are pumping into the fishing Industry. The 2009 loch teams managed to raise over £3000.00 through a lot of hard work from all involved, it was a great excercise not only helping with costs but aided team building which is very important.

Maybe the rivers commitee should up the entry price, make more rounds or try to get more individuals entering as there are roughly only 60 entrants which is a very samll group. You could cut out the soup annd sandwiches after each round and maybe try some fund raising. Mind you its a lot less than the worlds and european where those who can afford it are going. Not an ideal situation but thats the way its seems to be going

I think I am wrong on this one it is not a training day its a team get together,
and I am sure the angler paid for it....sorry I will remove it from my post

well guys it looks like the majority of anglers out there dont know about how much it costs to represent your country as well as accomodation costs you also have to buy blazer slacks tie badge fleece and that is after you have paid £42 to fish heat another £42 for semi and another £42 for the final when the costs of a days fishing is only £20 how many anglers start ? 45% qualify for semis from most heats and then i think its a third of each semi for final thats a lot of money would like to hear more on this subject

tight lines davie
