Its very, very sad indeed, that incidents like this are happening in comp fishing. Why cant every comp angler just fish in the same way as everyone else, without bending / breaking rules or resorting to viloence.
Then we would hopefully NOT have incidents like this.
Without doubt, there are some competition anglers out there who, for some strange reason, seem to draw attention to themselves. Wheter its standing on a box, or stretching fish before a weigh in, or out fishing a lough at 6am the morning before a competition, or fishing in restricted areas, or wading out and then getting involved in a punch up. Why cant they be like the rest of us and just go fishing without incident. Perhaps they are just attention seekers, perhaps not. But what I do think is that, if we ALL went fishing and justed fished, there would not be incidents like this punch up and no need for threads like this.
I feel sorry for the decent guys that run these comps and run these fisheries.
Surely it cant be ALL down to jealousy.

Or am I missing something completely.
If you look at the recent troutmasters final incidents and now this. The common denominator seems to be anglers taking the rules to their limit, or indeed breaking rules.
If Skinny's side of the story is to be believed, then one comp angler, attacked another comp angler, just because they were jealous.

I find that very very difficult to beleive. It may just be that there is more to this than we are being told
Surely it's incidents like these that give comp angling a BAD name, and NOT people talking about such incidents on these forums.
There seems to be certain individuals, who are CONSTANTLY in the limelight over breaking, bending rules such as wading rules.

Why cant they just fish on a level playing field, like everyone else and avoid incidents like this.
Dont get me wrong, Its not right to give someone a kicking for doing something you feel is wrong, but surely if it's the same person time and time again who is involved in these incidents, then people are going to ask if there is NO SMOKE WITHOUT FIRE.

Even these type of anglers closest friends must start to wonder at some stage, why these incidents keep happening.

maybe it's just a case of over inflated egos.

I could be wrong of course.
I mean, you dont hear stories of anglers attacking world champions, JUST because they are jealous of them being so good. Perhaps some individuals like to be in the spotlight, regardless of the reason why.
Perhaps their moto is " There is no such thing as bad publicity ".
Just a thought.
