I have got to applaud the way Jason organises comps on his reservoir... unfortunately I couldnt make it as I am still suffering with a broken finger (any excuse eh?) Toft is the most fairest waters in the country with no special areas as all 'pegs' are capable of producing and an alternative to the Airflo individual/team event hosted at Elinor since its start.. I believe?
Theres a plug!!!
Weekly results week ending - 23rd October
72 rods caught 254 fish rod av 3.5
Not too bad a week both sport and weather wise, a couple of wet and windy days hampered sport a little mid week.
A nice day for the Toft Newton Cup last Sunday and a pleasing level of support, 26 anglers fished and caught 66 fish. Mick Angell from Brigg won the match catching 12 fish in total with his 6 fish bag weighing 10Ib 5oz, Brian Simmons and Jane Lidster tied for second place, Brian with 6 and Jane with 5 for 8Ib 8oz. Sadly the larger stockies from earlier in the week didn't show (although Robin Goldthorpe who scraped into 4th place was reduced to tears after losing a fish of around 8Ib's!!) and best were 2 rainbows of 2Ib 2oz, one to Pete Cowan and the other to Mick(?) Walker who were forced to share the £50 Toft voucher.

All manner of methods have worked this week, from very small buzzers beneath bungs, right up to pretty large minkies on intermediates. A few more fish starting to show interest in the fry now, a few weeks later than usual. Generally the fish are very close in - make sure you fish your flies right back to the bank, as often the takes can come in the last few inches of water, the BLUE TAGGED £100 brownie has been seen several days this week swimming about 2 feet from the bank, looking in very good order!!
Best rainbow of the week was a fish of 6Ib+ caught and released by Tom Morton from Notts, a close second was Trev Ward with a 5Ib 8oz fish that was also released taken off the top on a Wickham's muddler, pic below.
I've also uploaded a speeded up 2 minute video of an interesting cloud that moved over Toft at the beginning of September, sounds a bit dull and probably is but if you've got nowt else to do it might be worth a look!? It's here >>
