Default Is it time we had a 'Bank' International?

Many many stillwater bank fishermen dont go near rivers or 'obviously' boats but are excellent exponents of their craft.... What are the thoughts of a Spring and Autumn Bank International? Would any of the governing bodies be interested? I would suspect quite a few entries would generate much needed income? The world team events have bank fishing sessions but to qualify for selection there are only reservoir (boat) and river eliminators?? thoughts on this?

Hi Martin

This idea has been bounced around at some International meetings I've been present at over the last few years. There seemed to be more interest from the English camp (who I think prompted the idea initially) but I think it was basically kicked into touch about a year ago because of a general lack of interest from the other three nations. Watson's Fancy may be able to add to this but I think I have it right.
Most of the major bank matches held in the last few years seem to have ended with a degree of controversy........mostly because of lack of controllers etc, whereas boat comps generally seem to go off OK as they are basically self-regulating.

If this did materialise would you advocate a few local rules be introduced, eg; beer crates etc ?

Cheers George Barron

This years Winnerweb bank comp was pegged.... moving to another 'peg' after a 2hr period therefore covering most of the fishable bank. No need for the use of big reservoirs (bikes, crates, frozen fish) but smaller stillwaters could be used just like Toft or Elinor where the Airflo final is being used... similar waters can/could be used in all the 'Home' countries... they all have them! I'm sure the 'entry fee' income would come in handy for CEFF and SANA etc.......

Ah but Taff, an International bank squad would be far less bodies........ say a 6 man .... x this by four...... 20...... one controller per two men....... totalling 10 controllers.............. far less than needed for a loch-style International...........
Then with 6 bods per country you can loose the big ' ressy ' banks out of it... and use a more inkeeping size of venue......... say up to 50 acres...... then all teams have a fair crack at each other..... LETS AV YA

You might want to try these for your propsed bank competition

Click the image to open in full size.
The blue one has a back rest & a tray for the groundbait is standard to both models.

Default Bank International.

The CEFF have already looked at it.

The best set up seems to be a lake the size of Elinoe (Ed is already up for this). Teams of 8 fishing 4 sections of the Bank in a similar format to the rivers.

Easy to Control.

When all four Governing bodies come out with full support then it should be a goer.

The Airflo Finals this coming weekend will be a good place to discuss such a venture as we have competitors from England, Wales, Scotland and Isle of Man.

Catch me at sign in or at the Fox inn on Friday or Saturday evening.
