Default Pipers

A quick question for the historians among you.....

Why does a piper pipe all teams to the water before the start of a home international; no matter where the international is staged?

i understand that it's traditional in Scotland; (and to a certain extent in Ireland as i think bagpipes originated there)...but why when matches are held in Wales or England.....?

There was a programme about this in Scotland last year they reckoned the first original bagpipes were from Greece , and laterly Scotland and Ireland . But enough of the history lesson , Representing your country and getting the bagpipes down to the side of the water , must get the old hairs on yer neck standing up .

Frazer and Ian at Carron Valley had us anglers piped down to the boats on opening day this year, certainly had the hairs on my neck standing up. Either that or the numerous drams of whisky that where dished out in the car park beforehand

I wonder if you can be charged with being over the limit while in charge of a 4hp outboard
