Default scottish rivers final

the rivers final is being held on the tweed on sunday.

at the moment the river is between 2.5ft and 3ft and is very coloured.

as i write the rain is p''''ing down and rain is also forecast for the next few days.

in my opinion i do not think it will be fishable on sunday.

what would happen if it was unfishable?
would sana move the final to an other river or cancel and hold later in the season?

yes its higher than last year at the moment (and every chance of going higher)

but the main problem will be the colour, its chocolate brown just now

yes it is 1ft 11in and falling at boleside but it is also rising at the top of the ettrick.

at melrose the gauge which is set off the boleside gauge is showing 2ft 8in

there is a lot of dirty water coming in below bolside mainly from the gala water and alan water

i hope the river is fishable on sunday

just wondering what happens if it is not

Common sense would surely dictate that it should be shifted to the Tummel, after all the previous heats have been held there. Probably too late to move it now and also as most of the finalists have been down prctising the Tweed.

Hopefully it will come good on the day or at the very least be fishable.

Just in from a walk around the leader, fish tweed says 11" i reckon the leader has risen at least 1 ft 6 in in the last hour on top of the 11" it was already at, the rain we had tonight at about 7pm was unreal, thunder shower lasted about 15 mins with some of the heaviest rain i have seen.

the water is really coloured up with virtually no clarity at all, heres hoping the rain stays away.

Tam, if the river is vey high then surley it would become a safety issue as to wether the final goes ahead or not. this will have to be decided on the day by the powers that be i presume.
