Default Whats that all about.

A mate of mine found himself hanging in the balance so to speak when waiting for the ' numbers ' to come in from his National Loch-style Qualifier...... He finshed 10th overall, with 8 places confirmed to the final at Rutland................... now here's the bit i find funny.......... one out of the 8 qualifiers has possilbly pulled out and there's also talk that another one may not attend the final either................ so you would think that if the 2 anglers in mention do not make the final then the next two anglers on the day would be the reserves....... ie ... the ones placed 9th and 10th or would you not ??

Well to my confusement thats not the case, as i've been informed that the next reserve place ie ...... 9th place from the Northern eliminators on Stocks reservoir will be given to the eliminator that was held on Kielder water.

An explanation referring to fish caught and weight percentage between the two eliminators was the desciding factors for reserve place allocations.

Sorry, forgot to mention this was a one day eliminator not over two days or conected to any other eliminator,
This seems odd to me can anyone shed any further light.
Thanks Fred.

As I understand your post Fred, do you mean that 2 people from the Stocks Reservoir, North Yorks 1 Day Match, are potentially pulling out of the National Final, their places at the Final, will be made up of the 1st & 2nd 'Non Automatic Qualifiers' from the Kielder 1 Day Match?

And this is due to their 'percentages' when the two matches results were compared?

IMO It should be the case of, If a Stocks Qualifier drops out, then the next Stocks 'Reserve' should take his place.

But I wouldn't be surprised if this the way its always been done, and this has highlighted a 'rule' that competitors havent known of in the case of 'drop-outs'.

I think the AW & Lexus Works the same way, with regards to the Team Heats and Individuals respectively.

Is it not commented on in the CEFF Rules?

Yes, possibly................ but the first reserve place from a possible drop out from the Stocks Eliminator will be allocated to the kielder eliminator............. then i think the next two places will go back to the Stocks heat.

And this is due to their 'percentages' when the two matches results were compared? Yes mate.......... which i think has got nothing to do with anything......................... they were two seperate matches on two separate days

IMO It should be the case of, If a Stocks Qualifier drops out, then the next Stocks 'Reserve' should take his place.
I agree totally.

If i was 9th at Stocks and one of the 8 from Stocks dropped out.......... i would expect to go through.......... not the place given to a different water, i just don't get it.

The Ceff work in mysterious ways..................... like last year's example at Stocks........... when the match was stopped at 2.20pm due to the strong winds..................... the qualifiers at the time of the match ending were selected on there fish weight at that time............. which is fair enough....... but the ceff wouldn't let the rest of us including me re- enter into another eliminator which i thought under those unusual circumstances was pretty poor........................ we were all prepared to pay another entry fee

I've also heard that NW (I think?) heat with 16 anglers had 6 go through to the National but Southern heat with 29 anglers had only 9 go through. This is hearsay but if the figures are correct surely Southern heat should have 10 go through if the figures are rounded up to 1 in 3?

All very interesting??... with overall numbers being down nationwide it should be easier to sort out??.... Why are numbers of competitors down?.. when I last fished the eliminators (not this year) we had 120 anglers in a Midland final!!... this after going through 2 heats!!... what is going wrong????

I heared from the North West secretary that the allocation was 1 in 3 to go through to the final due to numbers being down and Rutland being able to host 120 anglers / 60 boats in the final.
Gillaroo, I fished the NW heat and there were at least 18 anglers there.
Numbers are down due to the credit crunch but a variety of other reasons, injuries, some disllusionment.
With the final this year at Rutland, I am sure the midlands heats will be well subscribed.

Neil

Talking about rumours, I hear the carryover of top rods has stopped. What do people think of that?

Excuse my ignorance but, why would 2 anglers go to all of the trouble and expense of taking part in an eliminator when they knew on the day that they would not be able to fish the Final?

My understanding was that a minimum of 20 had to take part or the event did not qualify as an "Eliminator" - is that just a myth ?
