Default AW Airflo - Rutland

Did anyone fish this yesterday?
I'm up at Rutland this weekend for the Major Clubs event on Sunday and would be interested in any updates on how it's fishing?
Thanks very much.
Andrew

Rutland's fishing good despite the hot and bright conditions. Fish are right up in the water and can be caught either with nymphs on the washing line or pulling blobs on a DI3 as soon as it hits the water. Hot spots yesterday were Gibbets Gorse and Yellowstone, there are also plenty of fish from fantasy island to the blue pipes. Good luck in your match, I managed 6 yesterday and lost as many by pulling blobs.

Default Update...

Just got off Rutland guys...

It's like pea soup.....thick green algea and no wind..... flat calm! !

Still I managed ok this morning.....and had time for a a pint or two :-)

Personally I couldn't get the pull to work..... at all.....(only follows to a 3" booby )

For me it was 2 black diawls (with red holo rib) and 2 traffic light diawls....fished on a floater....honestly !

Yellowstone has a lot of fish (M N and P bouys)

Off the slicks (downwind of the boils) yes you'd get away with it in a comp...as there up to 200m off....

but want it static..just short line and drop the flies through the top 4ft...

Still if the wind picks up the algea may clear...if it does.....pull

If it's still pea soup at Rutland I would pop down the road to Grafham which is still fishing well. I fished it yesterday and we had good day (thanks Watson’s Fancy), weather and conditions looked ideal in the morning for a day twiddling on the floater.

But Flat calms and rain meant we had to work harder for the fish than in recent weeks. Good numbers of rising fish, which could be tempted to blob and boobie when cast at, but nothing to the dry fly. Also quite a few coming to the nymphs, with a reasonable number of good quality fish over 3lb with good tails and fins.
