Default Bob church open places available!

Just spoke to Bob and Jeanette Church.
They’ve informed me that places are available to fish in the BOB CHURCH OPEN which takes place on Grafham Water on Sunday April 5th. Match Time 10am until 6pm.
It is an individual match, not a team event. Fished to international rules, with a meal thrown in after the event
I fish in this match every year, and love it.
Bob and Jeanette have given me permission to put their contact details on this forum.
If you’re looking to dip your toes into the competition scene then I’d give this match a bash, as you’ll enjoy the relaxed, friendly atmosphere and the hot meal afterwards.
There are prizes for places and a raffle as well.
Bob has to inform Grahfam lodge about the number of boats he wishes to book for this match by the end of this week; so if you’re interested contact Bob & Jeanette on 01604 492705 let them know you’ve been on the forum and wish to fish in the Open.
See you all there.

Can only echo the above statements. It's a really enjoyable competition with a great atmosphere, just hope it's a bit warmer than last year!
See you there Skunk!

P.S. Do not forget to give Bob or Jeanette a call on the number supplied above, so they can sort out all your details;as you'll be given a match card which requires your name etc.

Paul, thanks for the info.

It all seems a bit daunting if i am honest their must be so many unwritten rules in the boat, copying and etiquette etc, if i am on a floating line and the bloke next to me is dragging them in on a sinker is it the done thing to keep what you have or can you change or what???

Hi Mike,
You can fish your preferred method. It doesn’t matter what your boat partner is doing; he does his thing and you do yours.
You’ll find that you’re both helping each other out, fishing as a unit so to speak.

If you see others catching, try and figure out what line they’re on, watch them cast then countdown their cast and watch their retrieve style, and are they taking fish at the beginning, middle or end of their retrieve. How long are they hanging their flies etc?

DI7 with a booby on the point, buzzer/bach/crucher in the middle, and a blob on the top dropper.
DI7 with two blobs on a twenty foot leader 10 and 10 apart… (Black on the point and orange, or a variation, on the only dropper.
DI3 OR DI5 with two boobies and a bach in between

These are a few permutations which one can start with, though the sparkler booby fishes well on Grafham at this time of the year

It’s about locating the shoals, finding the depth and pulling through them at that depth.
Hope this helps.

PitsfordPirate will become famous soon enough
Default

Returned mine and Martha's entries/confirmations for the Open and Classic last week and have since exchanged a few e-mails with Jeanette where the subject of Open entries was also discussed.

Numbers now up to 60, would be great to see it reach at least 80.

Great comp, great craic.

The Pirate.

Unfortunately I'll be off back up to Pickering after a weekend at Rutland or I would have given this match some thought. I need to start fishing Grafham a little more.
Hope you all have a great day.

Andy
