Confirmation today that this body actually exists. Although no members yet, there is a committee and a constitution. Apparently trying to get recognised as an official country so being eligible to fish in internationals but need support of other home nations to do so. Has hosted an inter fishery competition last season but looking to expand. Still don't know any motives behind the formation but looks like its here for the long haul.

Regards

Hi Maverick,

Thanks for the info. If you dont mind me asking where did you get the confirmation. Has it been published anywhere.

I really cant see this association being around for the long haul, unless it does actually get a huge amount of support.

You say it doesnt have any members. Thats very interesting. A comittee, and a constitution but no members.

I would be extremely surprised if the other home nations will support an organisation that will divide angling in Ireland.

Even the famous and non famous anglers that supported the NIFFA by fishing their competition, all seem to agree that forming a team to represent Nortnern Ireland only, would be a bad idea.

Perhaps some of the past & present International Competition Anglers from England, Irealand Scotland & Wales , that are on this forum, could give their views as to wether they think an International Team that just represents Northern Ireland only, would be welcome, or even a good idea.

I for one would be completely against it.

Cheers,

OO

Hi,

Was speaking to a committee member at a fishery today. Didn't get his name but he is the person who runs Turnaface fishery near Moneymore. Seemed to get the idea from him that he already has the support from England and possibly Scotland. This is what he said today but I feel he was also trying to get a bit of support from myself and possible anybody else who goes to fish there. I don't usually fish there myself but went today to have a go at troutmasters comp.
As mentioned above, all opinions from current and past internationals would be welcome.

Regards,

Mav

Cheers Maverick,

Interesting to hear you say that he has support from England & Scotland.

Perhaps someone from SANA or CEFF could comfirm or deny this.

Anyway, there has been more than enough said about the NIFFA Maverick.

Good luck in Troutmaster Maverick.

Yeah I agree. Think it's best to let it run its course and see what happens. Wether or not it gets off the ground it won't affect things much.

Hi Lads
This lot would want to be opposed at each and every turn and so would any one who supports them. Why change a system that has worked perfectly well for years and has the support of the majority of Irish anglers. It begs the question as to what their real intentions are. They wont get my support and I cant see any angler with half a brain even touching them. As they say " that dog wont hunt ". Enough said.
