Default River Competitions question.

Excuse my ignorance but I know absolutely nothing about how these events are run.
I joined two angling clubs this year to get access to wide range of river fishing. When I joined I got a listing of competitions run on the clubs' home rivers as well in the region. In these competitions would it be the common practice to kill all takeable fish, for counting purposes. If so this seems like incredible strain to put on wild fisheries, you are going to have regular assaults by (presumably) pretty competent anglers who are taking the prime fish.
I'm not anti-competition per se but I think to do this on wild rivers is irresponsible.

Hi Steve,

Thankfully, I've never come across a River comp that was anything other than strictly Catch & Release. Some are just based on numbers, some on numbers of "measures" i.e. fish over a certain size, others have controllers present that measure the size of the fish and that counts as fish points.

Regards,
Terry
