Default Walthamstow FFC Autumn League starts 20th September

Walthamstow Fly-fisher’s Club’s Autumn League starts again Saturday 20th September on Walthamstow’s day-ticket reservoirs Nos 4 & 5. A series of 6 matches – Dates: 20/9 27/9 4/10 1/11 8/11 & 15/11.

Meet at Gate Office 9.30 am for 10 am Start. Finish 4pm. Weigh-in 4.30pm at the Ferry Boat. Two-fish limit. The best four results out of six count.

One of our friendliest and most relaxed competitions, kicking off at a very civilised 10am and finishing at 4 pm – leaving plenty of time for a relaxed debriefing on the tactics of the day in the Ferry Boat. If you are new to Walthamstow and have found summer fishing a struggle – don’t give up. Make sure you visit during the Autumn and Winter. The backend fishing here is usually excellent.

At present the fish in Nos 4 & 5 are feeding hard on the fry, with rainbows to 6-8-0 reported.

Default Walthamstow FFC Autumn Series - Final Results

(Best 4 matches out of 6)

1. Frank Daley 36 points
2. Jim Dillon 35 points
3. John O’Regan 31 points

A close-fought competition saw Frank Daley pip Jim Dillon for top spot with a win in the final match. Another well-supported event with between 12-15 club members turning out most Saturdays, despite some unpleasant weather.

After a slow start, we began to see the front-runners regularly catching bags of anything between 8 to 20, including some nice silver rainbows with good tails. Even though Boobies on the DI3, DI5 and DI7 accounted for most fish, others were caught on Minkies and Buzzers on the floater or intermediate.

Next event: WFFC Fur & Feather Saturday 6th December, with the usual lengthy prize-list + raffle. Members only, but with a club subscription of just £12.50, it’s worth joining up on the day just for this.
