Well, that's one way of looking at it.

The other way of looking at it is that Rutland has become a water where comps have become a 'catch them as quick as you can if you have a hope of winning' which is not a true test of angling prowess. Better for it to be tough and testing. Mind you, that wouldn't be good p.r. for Rutland!

I would be interested to know what true comp fishermen think. Limit as fast as possible or a testing match with a few fewer caught? And this is not sour grapes but a sincere query.

Exactly the reason why I prefer Carron Valley to the Lake. Testing, sometimes hard versus out and out stockie bashing. Which do you choose?

BAN FRITZ

and hanz and adolf.

I blame the germans.

Kill em all - no catch and release that is. Knotted landing nets, I'm a traditionalist bring em back - they were the good old days. Where's my quill, I'm writing to the Times.

Disgruntled from Brockley.

Default In It To Win It

I think that time bonus adds a great edge to competition fly fishing.
You never drop of the ball, your always fishing hard always looking to bring home thoughs few extra pounds in time bonus.
Got to be more skill in volved especially on large waters such as RUTTERS,
Other than some noddy coming in with not even a limit just a few better sized fish, and doing the lads who had the skill to do do the job early !
IN IT TO WIN IT LADS

Default Better Fish

I remember fishing a round of the TFEO at Rutland and not doing vey well, some of the top lads were there and the limit was 10 fish. Several had put limits on the scales and were happily milling around thinking they could be in with a shout when an angler came in with a bag of 8 fish for 33lb. not even a limit in that match, and walked it. Pirate will know who I'm talking about. Now that was good angling.

Getting back to the 4's match, great result for the Anglian Team, who did it consist of?

Andy
