"To qualify for an Irish team"
In Munster alone on the lake anything up to 200 anglers only 20 places.
On the river close to 100 anglers and only 20 places.All this is done on one day just to put you through to the Inter provincal championship which is also run on one day. So you have one day to get on an Irish team two days if your lucky!!!!
If we are to move foward and compete we need change. ALL IDEAS ARE WELCOME .Please let me know you sincere and positive thoughts on how we can make this more competitive and fear and send our best teams abroad

Maybe rather than a one day event, run it over a weekend period perhaps or maybe on a league basis over a period of few months..

I think this has been put on the table before but no such luck in changing the current selection system..

I think that more qualifying comps is the answer for any association, that is trying to produce a medal winning team, so that consistancy will shine thru.

The problem however, is that it means more competitions to organise for those who give up their time to run the associations.

More people need to step up to the plate and help run things, instead of shouting suggestions or criticisms from the sidelines.

May be some of the open comps that already exist like the Melvin, Sheelin Corrib and Conn opens could be used for qualifing points and then the top 40 point scorers go to a final quaifier.

Great idea mike, but not sure it would be possible, as not everyone fishes the open comps. I think any series of qualifying matches, would need to be organised and run by the governing body.
