Well done to everyone that fished the comp today. 28 mad irishmen braved the gales
Serious winds at times and a few boats beached on the shores. Think we will have to get "Twin Electrics" and bigger anchors for next year

Big thanks to Ray, Derek and Andy at Straid Fishery. The soup and stew at lunchtime was extremely welcome and the beer at fulltime was a godsend.

1st place 7 fish ... Greg White
2nd place 6 fish ... Stevie Allison
3rd Place 5 fish ... Arden Pollock.

Cheers Mike. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to be out on Melvin yesterday.

Well done Greg,Stevie and Arden but in my opinion the top angler was the man who landed the shortest fish, netting a fish when it's blowing over your head takes some skill. Many thanks to Ray and Dereck for a friendly comp to blow away the xmas cobwebs

Well done Greg on an excellent result leading the field from an early stage on the day and catching consistently. Great craic in challenging conditions.

Great to see wee Desi NOT break a rod!! But what happened to the wee joiner from Bangor.......... is he lulling everyone into a false sense of security by blankin?

Thank you everyone and tighlines for 2012

I'm sure the wee joiner from Bangor has a few secret patterns he would gladly give you after Thursday . Ha ha , from what I know off him I would say watch out straid for the backlash , he will be a man on a mission. You know he hasn't gone away , you can't win them all . That's the beauty about comp angling when you do well you think you have Sussed a method only to fish the nx match and come off the water wondering what da f:;k happened there !!! . The wee joiner from Bangor I think wouldn't have it any other way , I'm sure he is tying new patterns in a corner off some house in Bangor plotting his revenge on the straid educated bows .
